Loppet Foundation Receives Grant from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation
The Loppet Foundation is pleased to announce it has received a $25,000 grant from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation. This grant will support Youth Adventures programming.
Youth Adventures is core to our mission to create a shared passion for year-round outdoor adventure in the Minneapolis area, focusing on underserved youth and families. The Minne-Loppet, Junior Loppet and Adventure Camp are part of this programming. We use outdoor endurance-based activities (cross country skiing, mountain biking, trail running and more) to lay the groundwork for long-term healthy lifestyles and as a framework for teaching positive life skills. By engaging underserved youth year-round in immersive programs, we create the environment and support network needed to develop healthy lifestyles and positive connections with each other and adult mentors.
In the last decade, we have reached 10,000 youth through Youth Adventures programming, 8,400 of whom are from North Minneapolis.
“Renewed support from the Schulze Family Foundation allows us to deepen the relationships in our Minneapolis partner schools,” said Adventures Director Anthony Taylor. “The strength of the students in our programs has influence beyond after-school programming. We are impacting the culture of the school through youth leadership and youth mentors.”
This is the second year of grant funding from the Schulze Family Foundation. Loppet Youth Adventure programs are also supported by the Pohlad Foundation, Huelsmann Foundation, George Family Foundation, UCare, Otto Bremer Trust, General Mills, Allina Health Systems, James R. Thorpe Foundation, Riverway Foundation, McVay Foundation, and the Cannon Family Foundation.

Schulze Family Foundation (RMSFF): The RMSFF was created in 2004 by Best Buy founder, Dick Schulze, as a way to give back to the community where Dick and his family grew up and where he built Best Buy to become the world’s largest consumer electronics retailer. Schulze and his family believe that a good education, a supportive family and a strong work ethic prepare children for a successful future.
