Apple Run was a Huge Success
Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Apple Run on Saturday, October 19. Despite some early-morning rain, Loppet members of all ages came out to hit the trails at Theodore Wirth Park. We loved that so many families came out to join the festivities. We’d also like to thank Eric Hendrickson and Kevin Johnson for being run leaders and to all of the Loppet Nordic Racing kids who joined the event. Finally, we’d like to give a special shout-out to Owen, the five-year-old who ran a mile.
Our new advancement director, Kristen Spargo, was surprised by the number of young kids she saw out running with their parents noting, “I keep thinking that my kids are too young to run with me – not anymore! I am impressed and inspired by the Loppet families I met this weekend.”
Including the kids, we had about 65 people who joined us for Apple Run. In a word our reaction to this number is: WOW! We are excited to make this an annual Loppet member tradition. We will make sure next year that we double our cider donut order from Pine Tree Orchard so we don’t need to make another last-minute run to Rainbow before the 10K runners return. (The Rainbow cider donuts just couldn’t compare to the fresh-from-the-orchard variety!) We’ll also make sure that we institute the one-donut-per-child policy a little sooner!
All kidding aside, it was wonderful to meet so many new people and to be a part of the Loppet community. Kristen and I are excited to join our colleagues and all of you in what we affectionately call “Loppet World.”
We hope to see you at the next member event on Saturday, November 23 at 6:00 p.m. for a bonfire, complete with s’mores and hot cocoa. Bring the kids again for a wonderful family event. Location TBD.
