Loppet Saturday a Huge Success
A picture perfect day greeted skiers on Saturday at the Loppet. The day started with snow globe like conditions for the classical point-to-point events. The Park Board grooming crew provided incredible classical skiing – with two to four sets of tracks on the entire course. A common comment was that it was like skiing in a world cup . . .
Matt Liebsch skied to victory in the Hoigaard’s Classic, edging Mark Johnson of Duluth by nearly three minutes. On the women’s side Natalja Naryshinka of Russia beat out 2013 champion Alison Crocker of Ohio by 35 seconds.
Crowds gathered throughout the day, enjoying the new Festival Area, featuring a snow tunnel, all the activities and events, and especially the Comcast Luminary Loppet. All in all a great day . . .
