LNR Juniors Celebrate Thanksgiving in Yellowstone
76 LNR Juniors and 8 coaches enjoyed great skiing and training in Yellowstone over Thanksgiving during the annual West Yellowstone Ski Festival. In addition to visits and a presentation by our “own” Brian Gregg, LNR athletes had guest coaching visits by Dakota Blackhorse Van Jess, Erika Flowers and Matt Gelso! Days were spent skiing and evenings were spent bonding and working on core strength and mobility.
On Thanksgiving Day, LNR Juniors, coaches and parents enjoyed the annual LNR Thanksgiving ski into Yellowstone Park. Athletes skied 60-80km thru the park on a beautiful sunny day. Wildlife did not disappoint with sightings of buffalo, geese, swans, coyotes and eagles. Coach Doug Debold made the 105km round trip to Old Faithful Geyser.
The 4th annual LNR Downhill 2km Time Trial took place on Friday with Juniors, FAST KIDS and some coaches participating. Coaches Erik Fagerstrom and Mark Johnson held off Foss Kerker for the two top spots on the podium, with Adi Sinkler and Torsten Brinkema in close pursuit. For the women, Michaela Keller-Miller was followed closely by Hannah Rudd and Amanda Kautzer. 81 athletes started, ages 9 and up.
