Making a gift of appreciated stock can benefit you as well as the Loppet Foundation. Donating stock you’ve held for more than 12 months avoids capital gains taxes on the increase in the stock’s value and allows you to receive its full, fair market value on the date of the gift. This is an excellent vehicle for stock that has appreciated substantially in value.

It is The Loppet Foundation’s policy to accept in-kind donations pursuant to the below guidelines:

1. Items must be new or gently used with very limited wear and tear, and must be listed on the in-kind donation needs list below.
2. Donations must be dropped off at a Loppet Foundation location unless agreed upon with the donor.

If you are interested in donating to the Loppet Foundation but are unsure if your donation fits the guidelines, we prefer that you email us with the donation information (info@loppet.org) so we can let you know prior to coming to The Trailhead.

In-Kind Donation Needs*:

• Youth and adult skis – new or very gently used – NNN bindings, fish scales are preferred sizes 140 and up with boots
• Helmets (only new, youth sizes preferred)
• Canoes and canoe paddles (please contact us before donating!)
• Life jackets
• Youth winter hats and gloves

*We do not accept donations of bikes of any kind. If you have a bike to donate, please consider one of these great organizations: Venture North, Bikes4Kids or Mr. Michael Recycles Bicycles
