It is an easy walk or warmup jog to the Wirth Beach were the Half Marathon\, 10K & 5K start. There will be some limited parking space at the Trailhead that will be used for Field Day families. We will have shuttle buses running from Mortenson to the start line at Wirth Beach 7am – 8:40am.  All Trail Loppet races (5k\, 10k and Half Marathon) start at Wirth Beach and finish at the Trailhead.\n \n \n \n \n \n Alternative Transportation\nBike (the best!): We encourage spectators to bike\, walk\, or jog on race morning. There will be extra bike racks at the Trailhead (parking lot) where you can lock your bike.  Bring your own lock. \nTake the bus(!): The Number 7 route stops right at the Trailhead. Check www.metrotransit.org for info and route planning. The Number 7 typically drops right at the Trailhead building but will be dropping at Xeres & Plymouth because the event will be blocking the usual bus stop.  \nDropoffs: Easy start line drop off is off Xerex Ave N.  Please be cautious not to block shuttle buses along Glenwood Ave. \n \n \n \n \n \n Bag Drop/Claim\nWe will have bag drop available at the start (look for the vans next to the Wirth Beach pavilion). We understand that we cannot fulfill our mission of connection and community without acknowledging and addressing the many barriers that exist for some members of our community\, especially our BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ community. As an outdoor organization that is operating on stolen Dakota land in Minneapolis\, we recognize the importance of honoring both the land and the community in how we operate.  \nIn striving to fulfill our mission and values\, we reserve a number of reduced fee/free entries for those for whom the cost of participation is prohibitive. If you are interested in participating in a Loppet event and this applies to you\, we invite you to apply for financial assistance through the application linked below.  \nLOPPET EVENTS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE APPLICATION \nAs a way to recognize the Dakota land we run with and steward\, all Indigenous people can participate in any Loppet event for free by emailing events@loppet.org and requesting a discount code. \n \n \n \n \n \n Can I change my race distance or transfer my entry to a friend?\n \nThe deadline to make race distance changes is 4:00pm on the Friday a week before the race. DESCRIPTION:Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ Loopet Loppet Celebrate Dakota people\, land\, and traditions along Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ (Basset Creek) with a 6 or 12 hour trail hike or run as an individual or with a relay!\nRegister\nVolunteer\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n October 17\, 2026 \n \n \n \n \n \n Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ Loopet Loppet\n \n \n \n \n \n Loopet Loppet is deepening your connection with the outdoors! \nWe’re celebrating Dakota people\, land\, and traditions along Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ\, the Dakota name for Bassett Creek. \nJoin the Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ Loopet Loppet and run or walk a 6-hour or 12-hour experience that connects you with the earth in new ways. Come solo or as a team of 4 to run or walk as many 5-mile loops as possible. \nWe’ll also have a Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ Little Loopet for kids to walk\, run\, and romp! \nThe Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ 1 Loop Fun Run/Walk! This untimed event is perfect for running or walking along the creek\, either solo or with friends. \nPartners will be on-site to help us practice saying Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ\, the creek’s Dakota name that loosely translates as “Falls Creek.” You can learn more in this 2-minute YouTube video\, “How to Pronounce Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ\,” by filmmaker Tiana LaPointe (Sicangu Lakota). \nFor more Native viewpoints about the West Metro\, please enjoy the Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ / Bassett Creek Oral History Podcast. It’s available on Spotify\, YouTube\, or wherever you get your podcasts. By sharing these stories widely\, this event aims to help to reframe the suburbs as Indigenous places and amplify contemporary Native voices. \nMany thanks to our close collaborators\, including Cultural Advisors Darlene St. Clair (Dakota)\, Jim Rock (Dakota)\, Roxanne Gould (Anishinaabe)\, and Bradley Blackhawk (Ho-Chunk). \n \n \n \n \n \n Can I ski the Luminary? \n Pending snow conditions\, ski trails around the lakes will be groomed for skiing. If there’s not enough snow for grooming then it will be an all walking. \n \n \n \n \n \n It's my first Luminary! What should I expect? \n Thanks for joining us! The Luminarians have been hard at work to create gorgeous luminaries\, there will be beer from Utepils Brewing\, fire dancers and great music! \n \n \n \n \n \n I bought a Luminary pass for a certain time\, does that mean I have to come then?\n Participants may start at or after their registered start time (NOT before)\, and they may stay at the Luminary as long as they like! \n \n \n \n \n \n I can no longer attend\, but found someone to take my ticket. Do I need to do anything? \n We’ll miss you this year! You can transfer your ticket(s) to a friend. The instructions are how to do so can be found here.  \n \n \n \n \n \n What does my entry fee go towards?\n Entry fees go towards the production of the event and The Loppet mission of connecting people to the outdoors through experiences that grow community! \n \n \n \n \n \n Are there any special group discounts?\n Email events@loppet.org if you’re part of a club to see if there’s a way for us to partner with each other. \n \n \n \n \n \n Who do I contact about the event if I have a question?\n \nThe Loppet Foundation1301 Theodore Wirth ParkwayMinneapolis\, MN 55422events@loppet.org612-604-5330\nRegistration: registration@loppet.org\nSponsorship: sponsorship@loppet.org\n\n \n \n \n \n \n I have special accessibility requirements\, who can I talk to about this?\n Reach out to events@loppet.org and we can talk about how we can support you. \n \n \n \n \n \n When and where can I pick up my pass?\n We strongly encourage you to pick up your pass early!
