This is a group of dedicated youth athletes who share a commitment to a healthy lifestyle through cycling, strive to improve their cycling performance through training and racing, as well as being meaningful contributors to our cherished cycling community.
The goals for the Cross Country MTB Teams are encourage and support youth to engage in a healthy lifestyle through the friendship, teamwork, and fun that cycling offers, contribute to the betterment of our community through volunteer projects, pursue team and personal improvement through focused training and racing, be conscientious of personal character on and off the bike so we can continue to promote the sport of cycling, the Loppet Foundation, and our sponsors in a positive light.
Practices are structured to accommodate all abilities, ensuring every participant gets a developmentally appropriate level of challenge according to their individual goals, competence, and rate of progression. Finding the fun in training to compete is the goal! Competition preparation strategies and the focus is on fundamental & sport-specific skill enhancement.
Program Details
DEVO Team – Ages 11-14
The LCW Devo Team is designed for younger riders eager to build skills and confidence on the bike.
Session 1
- Dates: April 29 – June 27
- Days/Time: Tuesday/Thursday – Time 5:00-6:30p (time is subject to change)
- Where: The Trailhead
Comp Team – Ages 12-18
The Comp Team are kids that have been in the program a year or have equivalent experience and are focused on training & racing. Often racing for their school (MCA League), MN MTB Series, and other regional events. Wirth on Wednesday (WoW) races are included while in session.

- Dates: July 4 – October 14

*NEW* Performance Team – Ages 14-18
Who is the Performance Team for? – the Performance Team is for riders that have shown commitment to endurance training and looking to take their training and racing to the next level. The Performance Team will have a dedicated coach that will work directly with each athlete to customize their training to meet their goals not only in MTB racing, but also incorporating MTB training and racing into their overall endurance sports training that might include Cross Country skiing, XC Running, Road cycling, cyclocross racing, and gravel events. If you are a rider that strives to reach your highest potential in MTB racing or across multiple sports while being part of a supportive team with a positive training environment, applying to be part of the Performance Team is for you.

Refund Policy
The Loppet will issue a full refund of the program fee minus the original processing fee up until 4 weeks before the program starts. Between 4 and 3 weeks from the program start date, a 50% refund will be issued. There are no refunds for any cancellations within less than 3 weeks of the start of a program.
