Minne Loppet
The Minne-Loppet program is designed to introduce elementary school students from North Minneapolis and Osseo area schools to the joy of spending time outdoors via cross-country skiing, and healthy living. We partner with schools where a majority of the students are eligible for free and reduced lunch. The program takes place during the school day on school grounds, where students learn the basics of being active outdoors as well as healthy eating habits to support their physical activity. The highlight of the program is the annual Minne-Loppet Next Generation race at the City of Lakes Loppet Festival in February, where students can test their new skiing skills. The event is a celebration of their hard work, complete with cheers, hugs, hot chocolate, and finisher medals.
The primary goal of Minne-Loppet is to build self-confidence, foster pride in their abilities, and instill a love for outdoor activities in a supportive and encouraging environment.
